These are the minimum configurations that we would recommend for running the COMPLETE tm CLINIC system in Windows .
- Operating Systems - Windows XP Professional Version or Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate Versions (we do not recommend XP Home Edition or Vista Basic)
- Networks - Ethernet 100. Use Router or Switch. Technology is changing rapidly, if you do not have network experience, we strongly recommend that you obtain local guidance and support. For additional info and well written articles about computer networking we recommend www.linksys.com
- Processor - Pentium 1.5ghz or greater
- Sound Card - Currently not required but a good idea
- 512mb Random Access Memory Minimum, 1Minimum with Windows Vista, 2Ghz preferred
- Mouse - An optical mouse will work better. There are no moving parts to clog with animal hair
- Floppy Disk - 3.5" High Density - Not necessary unless needed to transfer data from old computer
- Hard Disk - 40GB disk drive (probably can't purchase less than 80GB).
- CD RW - Recordable CD ROM drives work well for backing up Complete Clinic (but will not back up an entire hard disk) Complete Clinic also supports DVD RW.
- Monitor - 17" VGA Color minimum configuration for Complete Clinic is 800x600 resolution. Flat Panel Monitors are nice especially if you have limited desk top space. Per Microsoft, Windows Vista requires the following: Support for DirectX 9 graphics with: WDDM Driver, 128mb Graphics Memory (minimum), Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware, 32 bits per pixel.
- Printer - Any Laser Jet or Ink Jet (Hewlett Packard, Oki-data, Epson, Lexmark are all good). If you are going to use a laser printer for printing post cards, a straight thru paper path is recommended. Laser printers are usually slightly more expensive up front, but cheaper to operate than ink jets. Dot Matrix printers are not supported.
- Label Printers - Dymo Models (LW400, LW400 Turbo or LW400 Twin Turbo (we stock printers and labels)
- Modem - Not required unless you authorize credit cards with Complete Clinic and then a Modem is not needed if you have a DSL or Cable connection to the internet.
- UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) - Capacity to power 450-600 watts for 15 minutes
- Backup Devices - Complete Clinic can be easily backed up to a CD RW or DVD RW. CDs or DVDs will preserve your Complete Clinic data, but will not backup the entire hard drive. If you use the computer for a number of applications other than Complete Clinic, you might want to consider a tape backup unit or external hard disk. Please call us and discuss this if you have concerns in this area. USB Memory Drives are nice for transferring data to your home computer but should not be the sole backup device.
